 Sugar Beach Resort is a very well-known beachfront condominium located on a sandy swimming beach in the north Kihei area of Maui. This pleasant, well-maintained property has lots of amenities including a pool, sauna, jacuzzi, putting green, shopping plaza, BBQ areas, activity desk and a deli-style restaurant. The fully furnished one bedroom units all have full kitchens, microwave, dishwasher, central air conditioning, cable TV, VCR, safe, washer/dryer, hair dryer, iron/ironing board and high-speed internet access (fee). Sugar Beach is the perfect choice for many couples or families wanting a condominium on the beach with a friendly atmosphere. This property is a wonderful value for a beachfront resort. There are shopping and dining options just a short distance away. Sugar Beach Resort is continuing to do exterior renovations which include repairing of the balconies, replacement of the air conditioning systems and roof replacements that began on November 19, 2007 and is scheduled for completion by July, 2009. The work includes repairing the concrete on the vertical walls and lanais, scraping and removing the old paint, then sealing and painting the walls, walkways and lanais. Phase II will begin in July, 2008 and will include replacing the roof and entire air conditioning system of each building. The hours of work is scheduled for 7:30AM to 5:00PM, Monday through Friday and intermittent Saturdays.
Unfortunately, some of this work may require the use of chipping and/or jackhammers which will be noisy and dusty.
The contractor has advised that while the work being done is quite extensive, the disruption to guests staying in adjacent units will hopefully be minimal. The pool and all shops will remain open and there is still "beach access." Blocks are being implemented throughout the property to try and keep guests away from the scheduled work. In addition, Sugar Beach no longer has any tennis courts.
